Why We’re Called Melting It Productions

People ask us this a lot. “Melting It” isn’t the most obvious name for a production company — it doesn’t scream “video” or “audio” or “drone footage” the way a lot of names in this industry do. But once you know the story, it makes complete sense.

It started in the edit suite, long before Melting It Productions Limited existed as a company. When Andy, Andrew and I are working on a job — cutting an audio edit so clean you can’t hear the join, smoothing a video transition so seamless the viewer never notices it, or landing a music cue in a documentary so perfectly that it just feels right — we’d turn to each other and say “you melted that.” Or “you’ve melted it.” Or just, simply, “we’re melting it.”
It became our shorthand for the moments the craft disappears. Not the flashy stuff — the quiet, technical nuance that most people will never consciously register, but that makes the difference between good and forgettable. A seamless edit doesn’t announce itself. It just works. And when it works that well, “melted” was the only word that felt right.

There’s a musicality to it too. A lot of what we do — whether it’s a match commentary edit, a podcast mix, or a documentary score — is really about rhythm. Getting the pacing, the beats, the silences in the right place. “Melting it” always had that sense of things locking into groove, of separate elements dissolving into one smooth, cohesive whole.
Mostly though, it was — and still is — a compliment. A subtle nod between us on a job well done. No fanfare, no big pat on the back, just “you melted that” and everyone in the room knows exactly what’s meant. High praise, low ego.

So when it came to naming the company, there wasn’t much debate. We didn’t want something generic or corporate. We wanted a name that actually meant something to the three of us, that carried the standard we hold ourselves to on every job — whether that’s a Premier League match package, a corporate documentary, or a podcast recorded on a Monday morning. Melting It Productions Limited felt right straight away.
It’s also, if we’re honest, a nice filter. If you’re the kind of client who cares about that level of craft — the edit you don’t notice, the sound that just sits right, the cut that makes the story land — then you’ll probably get why we’re called what we’re called. And if you don’t notice any of that in the finished product, that’s honestly the biggest compliment of all. It means we melted it.
Got a project that needs melting into shape?
Whether it’s a match-day package, a documentary, a podcast, or something that needs a drone in the air and a steady hand in the edit suite, that’s exactly the kind of work we love getting our hands on. If you’ve got a project brewing — pun very much intended — get in touch and let’s talk about how we can help.
One thing worth a quick check before it goes live: your site footer previously showed a Hexham/Northumberland address rather than Bramhall/Stockport — worth glancing at while you’re in there, since a new post is a good moment to catch it if it’s still wrong.
